The wedding cake has been a part of wedding receptions for years! The cakes come in a variety of frostings, fillings, and designs. A trend that isn't necessarily new this year but is becoming more popular is the idea of a grooms cake. There is actually a meaning behind the grooms cake that dates back to the 18th century. Customarily, the grooms cake was made of fruitcake and the unmarried women would take a piece of the fruitcake home, put it in a box, and stick it under their pillow so they could dream of their future husbands. Although the meaning has been lost over the years, the idea of the grooms cake has created an industry of its own. Nowadays the grooms cake is picked by the groom and resembles their favorite sports team or their favorite hobby. Just two weeks ago at a reception held at Foxchase Manor their was a grooms cake made in the shape of a Nascar car. Having a grooms cake at your reception always sparks a conversation amongst guests and sends some single ladies home dreaming of their future husbands.
